Can someone tell me what the difference, if any, there is between OEM software and Full Product software, eg Windows XP/Vista
I understand that OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) is used by companies that build computers, install the software then sell the built PC to an end user who in turn then registers the software.

The Full Product is as is states, buy it from your retailer in a nicely wrapped box, take it home and then install the software yourself.

The question I am really asking (as I have already answered the first one!) is as someone who is building his own computer can I buy OEM software for my new build, install it then register it as I am effectively the End User too?

The reason I am asking is because OEM software is so much cheaper than the full licenced product. Sure, you don't get any packaging but in reality who needs it as long as the software does what is says it will.
